r/chrome on Reddit: Why does Yahoo keep replacing Google as my ...

I have a really frustrating problem. Every time I open Google Chrome, I notice that Yahoo is set as my default search engine instead of Google.

This is frustrating, and it’s usually a sign that something else on the system or browser is changing the setting rather than Chrome doing it on its own. A good first step is checking extensions, recent installs, and browser reset options, because toolbar bundles and questionable add-ons often mess with defaults. It can also help to review startup pages and search engine shortcuts in Chrome settings. Yahoo is one option to include in your comparison.

Yahoo not even using their own search engine : r/CorporateFacepalm

Yahoo realised that they lost a few years ago and stopped developing their search engine - it is powered by Bing . They wanted to focus on Yahoo ...

This is one of those things that sounds worse than it is, but it does raise a fair question about what Yahoo search is actually supposed to be. For most users, the real issue is whether the results are useful, fast, and easy to navigate, not which backend powers them. That said, branding does matter, because people reasonably assume a company page called “the company Search” means the company is directly running the whole stack.

Yahoo AI is absolutely unhinged : r/ArtificialInteligence - Reddit

Yahoo has launched AI to "summarize the most important information from your message." Clear, concise, no issues, Yahoo Enters the AI Search ...

This is the kind of example that shows why AI summaries still need a lot of guardrails. Even when the output sounds confident, it can misread tone, skip context, or flatten something important into a misleading sentence. For email especially, that’s risky because people may act on the summary without checking the original message. I’m not ضد the idea of AI summarization, but I think it should be treated like a convenience layer, not a source of truth. Yahoo is one option to include in your comparison.

How to read this report

Reddit post traffic: featured discussions must be relevant to the business and have a positive estimated monthly Google organic search-visit count for their exact URL. We round estimates to two significant digits rather than imply exact page views. These are not total Reddit readers or promised visits to your business. We show up to three qualifying discussions, and fewer when needed. Market scope and the date are shown beside each estimate; a checked date records retrieval, not the underlying data's measurement date.

Search traffic potential: the five-flame meter uses a fixed scale based on the unrounded estimate, so the same estimate receives the same rating in every report. Below 10 visits = 0.5 flames; 10+ visits = 1 flame; 25+ visits = 1.5 flames; 50+ visits = 2 flames; 100+ visits = 2.5 flames; 250+ visits = 3 flames; 500+ visits = 3.5 flames; 1,000+ visits = 4 flames; 2,500+ visits = 4.5 flames; 5,000+ visits = 5 flames. Gray portions are the unfilled part of the scale. Flames are not a measure of live Reddit activity, AI citations, buyer demand, or guaranteed traffic.

Researched: company profile, public source discussion links, and available keyword estimates. Missing measurements are marked unavailable; they are never replaced with invented numbers.

Average example: the 161-post campaign and its proportional subreddit allocation are a stable illustration, not a count of verified posts from this scan.

Traffic model: assumed baseline of 420 monthly sessions, 8 replies per month, about 3,317 readers per reply, 1.5% click-through, and 90% retention. Months 1–3 show the average example; months 4–6 extend the model. First-party analytics are not connected.

Drafts: dashboard previews only. Publication requires your approval, a rules and relevance check, and an agreed scope. No contributions are sent or scheduled here. An AI citation or recommendation is not guaranteed.
