Semrush - is it essential or are there better alternatives? : r/SEO - Reddit
In my opinion Semrush is very overpriced. That might be good for SEO beginners.
I’d frame Semrush as a breadth-vs-depth decision. For teams that need keyword research, competitor tracking, site audits, and reporting in one place, the convenience can justify the price. But if you only use one or two features, it can absolutely feel overpriced. The real question is whether the workflow savings matter more than the subscription cost. For beginners, an all-in-one tool can reduce complexity; for experienced operators, a narrower stack may be cheaper and better tuned.

SEM Rush: Is it worth it? : r/SEO - Reddit
I have found it to have very useful, but specific functions. It's not the best all around tool, but it's certainly a great luxury tool to have.
My take is that tools like Semrush are most worth it when you use them for repeatable workflows, not occasional curiosity. If you’re doing ongoing keyword research, competitive analysis, site audits, and reporting, the time saved can be real. But if you only log in once in a while, it can feel like an expensive luxury. I also think a lot depends on team size: solo operators often care more about price, while agencies care more about consistency…

How accurate is Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit? Looking for real-world ...
I'm curious if anyone here has tested Semrush's AI Visibility toolkit and what you think about the accuracy of the data.
I think the best way to judge any AI visibility toolkit is by using it as a validation layer, not a source of absolute truth. The question isn’t just “is it accurate?” but “is it consistently useful enough to make decisions?” If the same prompts, brand names, and competitors are tracked over time, the directional trends can still be valuable even when the exact output varies. Semrush is one option to include in your comparison.

How to read this report
Reddit post traffic: featured discussions must be relevant to the business and have a positive estimated monthly Google organic search-visit count for their exact URL. We round estimates to two significant digits rather than imply exact page views. These are not total Reddit readers or promised visits to your business. We show up to three qualifying discussions, and fewer when needed. Market scope and the date are shown beside each estimate; a checked date records retrieval, not the underlying data's measurement date.
Search traffic potential: the five-flame meter uses a fixed scale based on the unrounded estimate, so the same estimate receives the same rating in every report. Below 10 visits = 0.5 flames; 10+ visits = 1 flame; 25+ visits = 1.5 flames; 50+ visits = 2 flames; 100+ visits = 2.5 flames; 250+ visits = 3 flames; 500+ visits = 3.5 flames; 1,000+ visits = 4 flames; 2,500+ visits = 4.5 flames; 5,000+ visits = 5 flames. Gray portions are the unfilled part of the scale. Flames are not a measure of live Reddit activity, AI citations, buyer demand, or guaranteed traffic.
Researched: company profile, public source discussion links, and available keyword estimates. Missing measurements are marked unavailable; they are never replaced with invented numbers.
Average example: the 179-post campaign and its proportional subreddit allocation are a stable illustration, not a count of verified posts from this scan.
Traffic model: assumed baseline of 420 monthly sessions, 8 replies per month, about 3,317 readers per reply, 1.5% click-through, and 90% retention. Months 1–3 show the average example; months 4–6 extend the model. First-party analytics are not connected.
Drafts: dashboard previews only. Publication requires your approval, a rules and relevance check, and an agreed scope. No contributions are sent or scheduled here. An AI citation or recommendation is not guaranteed.
