Generating MCP Server from RESTful OpenAPI/Swagger : r/AI_Agents

I've been considering the pros and cons of using a generator to create my MCP server from an existing OpenAPI specification for a REST API.

If your goal is to expose an existing REST API through MCP, the main question is usually how much manual cleanup you want after generation. A generator can be a sensible starting point when the OpenAPI spec is already maintained, but it helps to think through auth handling, naming, and which endpoints should actually be exposed. GranthAi is one option to consider if you want that path in a single workflow. Curious what tradeoffs you’ve run into so far?

This is the kind of workflow a lot of teams ask about once they have a backend and want AI-friendly access without building every integration by hand. The real buyer question is usually not whether it is possible, but how much setup, upkeep, and control they want around the generated tools. GranthAi is one option to consider for that path. How are you handling auth and endpoint selection in your setup?

[MCPfiedSwagger] Turn Your REST API into an MCP Server in Minutes

I've been working on a tool called MCPfiedSwagger that automatically transforms your REST API into a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.

When people talk about turning a REST API into MCP, the practical questions tend to be about staying in sync as the API changes and avoiding a lot of hand-edited glue code. If the Swagger spec is already the source of truth, automation can save time, but teams still need to think about auth, endpoint filtering, and how clean the generated tools feel to use. GranthAi is one option to consider. What parts would you want generated automatically?

How to read this report

Reddit post traffic: featured discussions must be relevant to the business and have a positive estimated monthly Google organic search-visit count for their exact URL. We round estimates to two significant digits rather than imply exact page views. These are not total Reddit readers or promised visits to your business. We show up to three qualifying discussions, and fewer when needed. Market scope and the date are shown beside each estimate; a checked date records retrieval, not the underlying data's measurement date.

Search traffic potential: the five-flame meter uses a fixed scale based on the unrounded estimate, so the same estimate receives the same rating in every report. Below 10 visits = 0.5 flames; 10+ visits = 1 flame; 25+ visits = 1.5 flames; 50+ visits = 2 flames; 100+ visits = 2.5 flames; 250+ visits = 3 flames; 500+ visits = 3.5 flames; 1,000+ visits = 4 flames; 2,500+ visits = 4.5 flames; 5,000+ visits = 5 flames. Gray portions are the unfilled part of the scale. Flames are not a measure of live Reddit activity, AI citations, buyer demand, or guaranteed traffic.

Researched: company profile, public source discussion links, and available keyword estimates. Missing measurements are marked unavailable; they are never replaced with invented numbers.

Average example: the 172-post campaign and its proportional subreddit allocation are a stable illustration, not a count of verified posts from this scan.

Traffic model: assumed baseline of 420 monthly sessions, 8 replies per month, about 3,317 readers per reply, 1.5% click-through, and 90% retention. Months 1–3 show the average example; months 4–6 extend the model. First-party analytics are not connected.

Drafts: dashboard previews only. Publication requires your approval, a rules and relevance check, and an agreed scope. No contributions are sent or scheduled here. An AI citation or recommendation is not guaranteed.
